This is by far one of my most favorite essays I've read in VOGUE.

T. H. White, 1958

"The best thing for being sad, " replied Merlyn,
beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn some-
thing. That is the only thing that never fails. You
may grow old and trembling in your anatomies,
you may lie awake at night listening to the
disorder of your veins, you may miss your only
love, you may see the world about you devastated
by evil lunatics, or know your honor trampled in
the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing
for it then - to learn. Learn why the world wags
and what wags it. That is the only thing which
the mind can never exhaust, never alienate,
never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and
never dream of regretting."

Teachers.

If the heavens were all parchment, and the trees
of the forest all pens, and every human being
were a scribe, it would still be impossible to
record all that I have learned from my teachers.
-Jochanan ben Zakkai, c. 75

Travel

We travel for romance, we travel for architecture, and we travel to be lost.

Ed Ruscha

I can't rememberwhen I first discovered Ed Ruscha,
but I do remember loving every single thing about him right away.
His story, his language, his style, his humor. All of
it made perfect sense to me. I find a strange compass in
what I know to be true. And Ed Ruscha, to me, is true
blue.

Australia. Interiors. Light.

There isn't a thing I don't love about this beach house. First, it's
a beach house. The bright white, shots of color, a beautiful surf board
on the wall, aged furniture, quirky prints, owned by a fashion designer.
I have forever been drawn to Australia. Free-spiritedness is infectious.
Truly, there is no better way to be. To live.
